The Battle of Coral Sea
The Battle of Coral Sea happened in May 1942. This battle was the first air-sea battle in history. The Japanese wanted to control the Coral Sea with an invasion of Port Moresby in southeast New Guinea. Although the Allies prevented the Japanese from doing that. When the Japanese landed in the area they were attacked by aircraft carrier planes from American forces. Both sides suffered damages to their carriers. The battle left the Japanese without enough planes to cover the ground attack of Port Moresby. Making the Allies have the win.

Battle of Britain
In the summer and fall of 1940, German and British air forces fought in the air over the United Kingdom. Locked in the largest sustained bombing campaign to that date. A significant turning point of World War II, the Battle of Britain ended when Germany’s Luftwaffe failed to gain air superiority over the Royal Air Force although they had months of targeting Britain. Britain’s determined victory saved the country from a ground invasion and possible occupation by German forces.
